The Rev. Charles M. Irish
The Rev. Charles M. Irish, age 86, of Medina, passed away on October 12, 2015. He was born in Lorain, Ohio on July 13, 1929.
After serving in Korea with the Marines, Chuck had a successful career in the home building industry until being called into the ministry, where he served for over 18 years as rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Bath, Ohio. Early on at St. Luke’s, Chuck’s life and ministry was radically changed when he came to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in the Holy Spirit. He wrote a book chronicling his conversion and Spirit-led ministry titled, Back to the Upper Room. Chuck eventually became the National Coordinator for the Episcopal Renewal Ministries and as such led countless clergy, laypersons, and congregations into a more vital walk with God.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 8 years, Dorothy (nee Sherman); children, Tara (Tom) Chicoine, Kelly (Marie) Irish, Shannon (Greg) Galehouse, and Shuvawn (Doug) Sweet, nine grandchildren; sister, Joyce Parsons; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Marie Irish, his beloved wife of 52 years, Jan (nee McConnell), and his sisters, Katie and Judy.
Calling hours will be: Monday, October 19th from 6pm – 7pm at Crosspoint Alliance Church, 855 Rothrock Road, Copley, Ohio; and the funeral service will commence at 7pm. A light reception will follow at St. Thomas Hall, 555 S. Cleveland Massillon Road, Copley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Luke’s Ministries, 3810 Ridgewood Rd, Copley, OH 44321.
