Robert Bruce Butts

Robert B. Butts, 79, of Aurora, entered into the presence of the Lord on January 31, 2017. A United States Army Ranger, Robert served as a Captain in the Army Reserves from 1960-1970, after graduating from the University of Colorado in 1959. He retired after 38 years in sales and marketing for General Electric Lamp Division, where he met Carol (nee Bricker), his beloved wife of 55 years. Robert earned a degree from the Moody Bible Institute extension school in 1980, and was a dedicated adult Sunday school teacher at Parkside Church, in Bainbridge, Ohio, for 35 years. Known as a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be missed by those who survive him: his wife, Carol Butts; his brother, William Butts, of Venice, Florida; his children, Karen Port, of Parma; Robert Butts, of Solon; Susan Avery, of Winchester, VA; and William Butts, of San Clemente, CA; 16 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. The family will hold private burial services. A public Memorial service will be held on Monday, February 6, 1:00 p.m., at Parkside Church, 7100 Pettibone Road, Chagrin Falls, Ohio, 44023.
