Richard “Dick” Hamilton

Please raise a glass and take a drink to celebrate the life of Richard “Dick” Hamilton, of Solon, OH, who passed away at home on April 9, 2020, at the age of 83. A beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and friend, he has left everyone who crossed his path with wonderful, usually hilarious, memories.
Born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario, hockey became a part of Dick’s life at an early age. After being recruited to play at Michigan State from 1956 – 1959, he went on to play in the IHL and WHL/WIHL through 1975. His success in hockey was followed by a long accomplished career with Bearings Inc. and Applied Industrial Technologies.
While he will be missed dearly, we know he had one hell of a welcoming committee to greet him in his new life. He is preceded in death by his parents; Phillip and Sarah, son Tyler, father-in-law Dick Hamlin, brother in-law Rick Hamlin, and several friends and four-legged companions.
He would not want us to grieve for long or dwell in his passing. He would simply say, “life goes on.” His legacy will live on through his wife, Lisa, of 39 years, daughters, Lezlie Bold, Julia (Troyce) Hudnell, Tracey Hamilton, and Ashlee Hamilton-Yanez (Jose), grandchildren Brendon Hudnell, Jessica Hudnell, Shayna (Justin) Dunn, Carli Hudnell, Griffin Delehanty and 3 great grand-daughters; son-in-law of Patricia Hess; brother-in-law of Bruce and Cindy Hamlin and Denise Hamlin; uncle of Tim, Brian, Nicol, Kelsey, and Trevis.
We will cherish the life lessons he shared and the memories we made!
Memorial services/Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
