Mary Ann Steinbauer

Mary Ann Steinbauer (nee Stevens), formerly of Toledo and Clyde, Ohio, died at her lakeside home in Ossineke, Michigan following a short illness on August 2, 2020. Mary Ann was born May 9, 1938, the youngest of three to Stephen G. and Corrinne C. (Enright) Stevens.
She graduated in 1956 from Toledo Central Catholic High School and earned a Registered Nursing degree in 1959 from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing. Mary Ann’s employment career included child birth to hospice at Toledo St. Vincent’s Hospital, Villa Maria Nursing Home in Green Springs, OH, Fremont Memorial Hospital, Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, OH, and The Bellevue Hospital. As a parishioner of Clyde St. Mary’s Catholic Church she served as church organist. She also volunteered as a LaLeche League leader, and ukulele musician with Cornerstone Church of Alpena.
Mary Ann Stevens married Thomas L. Steinbauer on April 20, 1963, after meeting at a TCCY ski club event. He preceded her in death in 2018; also deceased are her parents and infant son, Joseph. Mary Ann was an adored farmer’s wife, homemaker, pie and cookie baker, as well as referee and enthusiast for her children: Cynthia (Troy) Leibengood of Clyde, OH, Thomas S. (Jessica Frankos) of Solon, OH, Timothy (Becky) of Vermilion, OH, Kathleen Taylor (Greg Jackman) of Westfield Center, OH, Molly (Laura) Steinbauer-Mack of Pretoria, South Africa, and Nicholas (Stacey Sullivan) of Cleveland Heights, OH. Also, she is survived by a brother, Ralph Stevens (Joan Beck) of Lambertville, MI and sister Irene (Lloyd) Bastian of Tecumseh, MI, 14 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial (masks required) at St. Catherine Catholic Church 2188 W. Nicholson Hill Rd. Ossineke, MI at 11AM Thursday August 6, officiated by Fr. Tyler Bishoff and Fr. Joseph Steinbauer. Interment: St. Catherine Cemetery, Ossineke, MI, outdoors at 12 noon. An Ohio memorial service will be scheduled in 2021.
