KATHERINE MARY DURAND “Kay” (nee Newman); May 3, 1921 – August 22, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Edward A.; dearest mother of Ed (Ruth), Paul, Ruth, Carol (Steve) Miranda, and Mary; loving grandmother of Jessica, Chris (Becky), Liz, Therese Miranda-Blackney (Tyler), Jeanette, and Lizzy; sister of Don (the late Eleanor) Newman, Joanne Newman, Carol (the late Pete) Barnstorf, and the late John Jr., Shirley (Bob) Sundquist, Virginia (Frank) Brophy, and Margaret Dixon; sister-in-law of Lorraine Newman; cherished aunt, great aunt, and great-great aunt to many. Kay earned a B.S. in Medical Technology in 1942 at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth and finished her career locally at Suburban Hospital. Kay enjoyed spending her time rooting for the Cleveland Indians, volunteering at Solon Senior Center and St. Rita Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Rita Parish Nurse Program, Hospice of the Western Reserve, or Tubman (in Minneapolis). Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday August 25, 10AM at St. Rita Church, 32820 Baldwin Rd., Solon, where family will visit with friends ONE HOUR PRIOR TO MASS AT CHURCH. Interment Roselawn Cemetery, Solon.
