JOHN JOSEPH KURPELL SR., of Solon. March 19, 1921 – August 19, 2016. Navy Veteran WWII. Beloved husband of Lucy (nee DeSantis) for 68 years; dear father of John Joseph Jr. (Carole) Kurpell, Bonnie (Peter) LeCastre, and Pam (Reggie) Williams; loving grandfather of Jessica, Michael, Lauren, Reggie, Brittany, and the late Lynn Ashley; brother of the late Josephine Gulasi. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday August 24, 10AM at St. Rita Church, 32820 Baldwin Rd., Solon. Interment Crown Hill Cemetery. Family will visit with friends at STEINBAUER FUNERAL HOME, 33375 BAINBRIDGE RD., SOLON FROM 2-4 AND 6-8 PM TUESDAY. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans. John retired from Ohio Bell and also was a Real Estate Agent. He served 24 years for Solon City Council and two years as Vice-Mayor; during his tenure he was also Chairman of Planning and Zoning and helped establish the Beautification Committee. He was proud of his memberships with Solon Valley Knights of Columbus, Solon AmVets, Solon VFW Post 1863, and South Solon Homeowners Association.
