Joan V. Budnick

Joan V. Budnick (nee Szemplak) 86 of Solon.  October 29, 1932-July 3, 2019.  Beloved wife of Paul for 66 years.  Loving and caring mother to their seven children:  Debby, Lynn, Karen, Kathie, Mark (Debbie), Philip (Rob) and Alyson (Tim) Welsh; cherished grandmother of Lindsey, Amelia, Kristin, Alec, Lauren, Alyse, Ava, Ella and Calvin; greatgrandmother of four; beloved daughter of the late Casmier & Sophie Szemplak; loving sister to the late Theresa Wozniak and brothers James (Elaine)& Jerome Szemplak.  Joan will join in Heaven the love of her life Paul and their three daughters Debby, Lynn & Kathie.

Joan was devoted to her family and church and spent her life taking care of those around her.  She took pride in her volunteer roles such as Girl Scout leader and coaching many of her kids sports teams.  Joan was a loving mom & grandmother but also loved to play practical jokes!  The hostess of holiday parties and planner of family vacations, she did it all.  An avid reader, she loved doing puzzles and playing cards and games.  She was a great cook and her famous lemon poppyseed cake will be missed by all.  Joan was a loving & caring woman and will be truly missed but never forgotten by everyone who knew her.

Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 11th at 10:00 am at St. Rita’s Church, 32820 Baldwin Road, Solon.  Family will visit with friends at Steinbauer Funeral Home, 33375 Bainbridge Road, Solon from 5-8pm on Wednesday, July 10th. In lieu of flowers, Joan requested donations please be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. You can also donate online at www.stjude.org
