Francis P. Mangano, “Fran” of Solon OH, died of a heart attack at the age of 73 on Thursday, June 15th 2017. His unexpected passing shocked and saddened friends and family.

Fran was born November 13th, 1943 in Utica, NY to Joseph and Aurora Mangano (Rintrona). He was the light in his mother Aurora’s eyes. From his many stories, it was obvious that growing up in Utica, with his beloved sister Roseanne, was a golden time for Fran. Fran graduated from Thomas R. During an illness, Fran was cared for by Mary Ann Cheney, a beautiful, young nurse.  They fell in love and were married on April 15th, 1965. Fran cherished and was dedicated to Mary Ann. From a modest start, Fran worked his way up, becoming a successful business executive with LTV Steel. Fran was a family man and tirelessly worked to provide for his wife and four children. He was always eager to encourage and guide his children’s development as they engaged in extracurricular activities and sports. Later in life, he enjoyed family vacations in the Adirondacks, where he spent time as a youth. He was a prolific reader, a photography enthusiast, a lucky fisherman, a seasoned cook, an avid gardener, and an impeccable winemaker, bringing a careful attention to detail to everything he did. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others. His grandchildren brought him great joy.

Fran was proceeded in death by his parents and beloved wife. He is survived by his family: his adored sister, Roseanne (Frank) Composto; his children, Martin (Gina Delfine) Mangano, Margaret (Howard) Cleveland, Amy (Paul Shovlin) Mangano, and Joseph Mangano; his nieces, Joanna (Steve) Marlow and Andrea (Beth Brown) Composto; and his grandchildren, Anna, Owen, Sean, Sidney, and Dario.
