Edward S. Hill

Edward S. Hill was born May 17, 1923 as Edward S. Podgurski to  parents, Apolonia (nee Zytowiecki) Podgurski and Ivan Podgurski. Edward entered the service for the US. Army as a technician for Company D 369th and the Medical Battalion 69th Division as a technician and medic during WWII.  He received 2 bronze stars, and was honorably discharged in April, 1946.  He earned his Professional Engineering Certificate and he completed work for many engineering companies in Cleveland, Ohio.  He was proud of his engineering work on the landing gear for the C-5 transport plane.  He is survived by his wife, Lillian June Hill of almost 71 years and his daughter Carol Hill Bernstein; loving grandfather of Derek (Rebecca) Haffey, and Jacqui Ward; cherished great grandfather of Elizabeth, Julia, Meghan, Gabriel, and Henry.  He was predeceased by his son, Edward A. Hill, DDS and his daughter, Cynthia J. Haffey. He will also be loved and missed by his extended family of nieces and nephews and all who knew him. Edward was known for his intellect, great sense of humor, as well as for his musical talent as a pianist.
