Charles W. Schwed

The “Flower Guy”, Charles William Schwed, has tended his last earthly garden and departed this life the evening of January 11, 2020. He was welcomed into our Heavenly Kingdom by our Lord and Savior and greeted by his loving wife, Lois (née Grapatin). Beloved father of Cheri (Kurt) Meehan, Maureen (Walter) Davenport, Charles Keith (Christina) Schwed, grandfather of 6, great grandfather of 11, brother of Margaret and the following deceased, Clarence and Rose. Charles (Chuck) was a devout Christian who was blessed with a very full and active life filled with many accomplishments and experiences. World War II veteran, retired South Euclid firefighter, brick mason and jack of all trades, he built his house and remodeled several others. He took great pride in raising vegetables and award-winning gladiolus and daffodils and enjoyed bringing bouquets to family and friends. We are grateful we had him for over 93 years. Our very special thanks to the Burton Healthcare team for their compassionate care and to Harbor Light Hospice in his last hours. Justin, Kristin, Heidi, Matilda, Danielle, Heather, Matt, Christine, Sheri and so many others made this final chapter so rewarding for him and easier for us. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 16 at Steinbauer Funeral Home, 33375 Bainbridge Rd, Solon, Ohio from 2-4 and 6-8. Visitation will also be held on Friday, January 17th at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7196 SOM Center Rd, Solon, at 10AM with services to follow at 11AM. His final resting place will be at Western Reserve Cemetery in Chesterland. Should you wish, in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Smile Train, St. Jude’s Hospital or Rainbow Babies & Children Hospital.
