Catherine “Kay” Haas

Catherine “Kay” Haas (nee Wuenstal), age 93, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening at her family home in Solon, Ohio, surrounded by loved ones. Kay lived in Pittsburgh for her first 89 years and was a life-long fan of the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. She is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Haas, her 8 siblings, and 2 of her son-in-laws. Kay and Bill, married for almost 50 years, enjoyed vacationing, bowling, square dancing, and socializing with Bill’s 101st Airborne and Post Office pals. She was a nurse for many years. In her spare time and upon retirement, she enjoyed playing cards, reading books and magazines, cooking delicious meals for her family, decorating, sewing, fashion, shopping, walking, and spending time with her family and church community. She had a quick wit and great sense of humor.

The beloved matriarch of her family, Catherine is survived by her 3 daughters: Christine (Jim) Mucha, Barbara (Joe) Walczak, and Deborah (Perry) Mason. She was the adored Nana to her 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren (Caroline, Jillian, Nora, Zachary, Bodhi, Arlo, and Josephine), and she was beloved by her nieces, nephews, and family friends. Catherine has lived in the Twinsburg and Solon area for the last 4 years and was a member of The Church of the Resurrection in Solon.

A private family mass will be held on Saturday, October 10th. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to The Church of the Resurrection in Solon.
