Carol Jean Chernay

Carol Jean Chernay (nee Messer) age 86, of Twinsburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2023 at Hospice of the Western Reserve. Carol was born May 19, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio and is preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Irene Kosko. She married the love of her life, Ernest Chernay who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, worked for many years as a Medical Transcriber, and maintained lifelong involvement and association with various Hungarian American groups in the Cleveland area. Carol will be remembered as a woman who loved and lived life to its fullest. One could say she never met a stranger as she made friends in whatever setting she found herself. She was always ready with a smile, a story or two, and often some advice for those she felt compelled to offer such words. She loved her independence, and her family. Carol was an enthusiastic collector of various kinds of antiques, curios, and collectables. She was a fan of games, casinos, music, and Pittsburgh professional sports teams. Carol will be sadly missed by her beloved children, Kathleen Novak (Matthew) of Aurora, David Chernay (Jennifer) of San Diego, CA, and Marilyn Chernay of Streetsboro. Also, greatly saddened by her passing are her loving Grandchildren; Andrew Novak of Bay Village, Monica Novak of Columbus, Daniel Novak of Cleveland, Mary Beth Novak of Columbus, Kendall Chernay of San Diego, Emily Filmek of Streetsboro, and Elizabeth Filmek of Los Angeles, CA. The family will receive friends at Kindrich-McHugh Steinbauer Funeral Home in Solon on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 5 to 8 PM. Carol was a lifelong member of the Roman Catholic Church and a funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Aurora on Wednesday March 29th, 2023 at 10:30AM.
