Betty Jean Jones (nee Seifred)

BETTY JEAN JONES, age 93, of Twinsburg, formerly of Massillon. Died October 16, 2021. Beloved mother of Roger (Kim); dear grandmother of Rebekah Jones, Susan Masten (Mike), and Benjamin Jones. Preceded in death by husband Harold. Betty was born in Massillon, Ohio, daughter of Grover C. and Ilah H. Seifred. She graduated in 1946 from Massillon Washington High School. Betty met Harold Jones at their longtime church home of First Baptist in Massillon, and they were married there in 1951. They resided in Jackson Township until moving to Twinsburg in 2004. Betty was a secretary for many years in industry and then served in Member Services for the American Baptist Credit Union in Massillon before retiring in 1990. Harold and Betty celebrated 59 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing in 2011. Betty was a woman of deep faith in her savior Jesus Christ, and she lived out that faith by her actions and her words. She was a faithful worker, having served as an adult Sunday School teacher for over 30 years at First Baptist. Betty was an avid reader, gardener, knitter, and Indians fan. She volunteered her time unselfishly for decades to local hospitals and libraries. Devoted to her family and friends, Betty never missed a birthday or anniversary with a card, note, and call, and was always quick to ask about others, never wanting to talk about herself. She will be fondly remembered as always putting the needs of others before her own, living out her favorite motto for her priorities in life: JOY, meaning Jesus, Others, You. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkside Church.
