Ann Jane Cawrse
Ann Jane Cawrse (née Hill) of Solon, Ohio passed away peacefully on April 13, 2016. She was born February 16, 1927 in Brewster, Ohio to the late John and Flossie (McCormick) Hill. She graduated valedictorian of her Brewster High School class in 1945. She attended the Conservancy of Music at Baldwin Wallace College where she honed her piano skills and met her future husband, Jack Cawrse, a recent returning veteran of WW ll. They married July 12, 1947. She later earned a degree in Learning Disabilities from Akron University and also completed graduate studies at John Carroll University in childhood development.
Ann’s passion was her family and her church. She was organist at Solon Community Church for 39 years, retiring at the age of 80 after playing for various churches since the age of 16, including music director at Pioneer Memorial Presbyterian Church for 13 years. She taught special education at Warrensville Heights School system for nearly 20 years. She also taught piano out of her home. She loved her garden, the birds, and always appreciated nature. She had a zest for life that included being a great cook, having a great sense of humor, a fondness for entertaining and enjoying a good joke, and compassion for people. She will be remembered by family and friends as a wonderful mother, doting wife, loyal sister, and a treasured aunt and grandmother.
Ann is survived by her sister, Dorothy Hill; Ann’s three children, Craig (Ann) Cawrse, and former wife Patricia Cawrse; Dave (Lois) Cawrse; and Amy Cawrse (formerly DiLallo); seven grandchildren: Heather (Nate) Hunt, Hillary Cawrse, Anna Cawrse, Sarah Cawrse, Josh (Danielle) DiLallo, Andrew (Alis) DiLallo, and David DiLallo; and four great grandchildren: Grace Hunt, Lilly Hunt, Maxwell Hunt, and Ezra DiLallo. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Cawrse in 2001, and also brother Donald Haley and sister Bertha Elizabeth “Betty” Peel (née Hill).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, May 27th, 2016 at Solon Community Church, 33955 Sherbrook Park Dr., Solon, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to either the music program at Solon Community Church, Solon Ohio, or a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association.
