Lucy Scaffidi

Lucy Marcelletti Scaffidi loved to teach, to read, to bowl and to spend time with her friends and family.  She was born December 16, 1913 and  passed away peacefully on Saturday March 17th, 2012.  Beloved wife of the late Peter Scaffidi.  Caring daughter of deceased parents Emilio and Theresa (nee Di Tommaso)  Loving mother of Dr. Linda Scaffidi (Michael Kron). Loving sister of James Marcelletti and of the deceased Elizabeth Tacl, Ann Redig, Michael Jaffrin and Helen Jaffrin.  Loving grandmother of Colleen, Tara and Erin Kron.   She studied English at Case Western Reserve and then received a degree in Elementary Education from Kent State University in 1936.  She loved every day of the 15 years she taught English at Garfield Heights High School.  She taught her family to appreciate literature, poetry, gin rummy, the Cleveland Indians and Wheel of Fortune. She lived with grace, passion and a great sense of humor.  Mass of Christian burial Friday March 23, 10 AM at St. Dominic Church 19000 Van Aken Ave., Shaker Heights.  Interment Knollwood Cemetery.  Family will visit with friends at STEINBAUER FUNERAL HOME, 33375 Bainbridge Road, Solon FROM 5-8 PM THURSDAY.  Memorials may be made to St. Dominic’s Guild.
 
 

Margaret Hanzak

MARGARET “Margie” Alberta HANZAK (nee Hancock), 84, beloved wife of Patrick Martin Hanzak (deceased), died March 19.  Born Feb. 8, 1928, to Albert and Freda (nee Young) Hancock, she was a sales cashier at Medic Drug Store in Solon for 20 years.

She is Survived by her son, Frank (Linda); sisters, Dorothea Miskimens, of Sylmar, CA and Phyllis Kowaluk, of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Kristina (Jeff) Pakeltis, Kellie (Jeff) Hotz and Michael Hanzak; and two great-grandsons, Brady Hotz and Thomas Pakeltis.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 21, 8 pm at Kindrich-McHugh-Steinbauer Funeral Home, 33375 Bainbridge Road, Solon.  Visitation precedes from 5-8 pm.

 

Rebekah Blakkolb

REBEKAH BLAKKOLB, of Aurora. August 14, 1991 – March 2, 2012. Beloved daughter of Tammy (nee Sigafoose) and Renald Blakkolb; dear sister of Mitchell and Rachel; cherished granddaughter of Nolan and the late Ruth Blakkolb, and Donna and Bert Sigafoose; loving niece of Monty and Cindy Blakkolb, Brian Blakkolb, Connie Hetu, Brenda and Darwin Russell, John and Elizabeth Sigafoose, Robert and Jennifer Sigafoose and Ed Sigafoose; close cousin to many. Funeral Services Tuesday March 6, 11AM at Fellowship Bible Church, 16391 Chillicothe Rd., Bainbridge Twp. Interment Aurora Cemetery. EVELYN A. PISTONE (nee Fraser), of Solon. May 10, 1922 – February 25, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Albert Paul; dear mother of Gerald A., Randall L. (Susan), Laurelyn B. (Rick) Advent, Cynthia A. (Michael) McKay, Amy A. (Patric) Zajac, and Christopher M. (Suzanne); loving grandmother of 10; cherished great grandmother of 13. Services Thursday March 1, 10AM at STEINBAUER FUNERAL HOME, 33375 BAINBRIDGE RD., SOLON, where family will visit with friends FROM 2-4 AND 6-8 PM WEDNESDAY. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Solon. Memorials may be made to Geauga Humane Society, Rescue Village.

 

Richard Coan

RICHARD L. COAN, age 86 of Solon died February 24, 2012.  Navy Veteran WWII. It’s a sad day for us… but a glorious day for our dad who has left this world to comforting arms of the love of his life, our mom. Beloved husband of the late Gloria C. (nee Matthews); dear father of Nancy Syntax, Sandra (Gary) Morse, Debbie (David) Eisenbraun, Brenda (Bill) Junkin,  and Rick (Kathy) Coan; loving grandfather of 17; cherished great grandfather of 8; brother of the late Mary Antonucci and Ted Coan.  Services Tuesday, February 28, 1 PM at KINDRICH-McHUGH STEINBAUER FUNERAL HOME, 33375 Bainbridge Rd., where family will visit with friends from 6-8PM MONDAY February 27.
